The Global Wellness Institute defines wellness as the active pursuit of activities, choices, and lifestyles that lead to a state of holistic health.

Since wellness is personal, an individual should pursue wellness by taking responsibility for their own behaviors and lifestyle choices.

These choices are, however, greatly impacted by the environment in which the individual lives, namely physically, culturally, and socially.

Wellness relates to the individual being aware of making choices that will result in excellent health and wellbeing.

Wellness includes, but is not limited to the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social, and environmental dimensions.
